Generation tXt is a youth run program designed to help new teen drivers and families practice safe driving, specifically by addressing the hazards of texting while driving.  The same people who brought you the Student Crime Stoppers has created this program. The Crime Commission has partnered with local high school students, State Farm Youth Advisory Board, Tulsa Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, and Oklahoma Driving School to bring this program to your school. Your participation in this comprehensive program will make a positive impact on teen driving behaviors.

Our research shows nearly half of teen drivers admit to texting while driving, yet they also admit that it is their number one distraction.  Teen driver statistics indicate that 21% of fatal car crashes in 16-19 year old drivers were the result of cell phone usage.  Research shows that people who text while driving have an 8-23 times greater risk of crash or near crash. Our goal is to be the new statistic – the generation that doesn’t text while driving!

We need your help! We want your school to be a part of our team.

Generation tXt is designed for High School students grades 9-12. There are many activities within this program, all designed to keep the teens’ attention and encourage them to Stop, Drop and Drive. We would like 2 or 3 of your students to serve on our Advisory Board.  This board meets quarterly providing guidance in campaign promotion and changes in the laws.  There will be opportunities for leadership development and service learning as a member of this board.

We hope that you will join our team!

Sincerely,
